mccollough canyon LBM land, wyoming
today, was a childhood dream come true for me. i was able to see the wild mustangs of the west in their natural environment. the horse solo inthe image above is spirit. he is a 26 year-old stallion.(very old for a wild horse) he was once the leader of his herd, now he lives on the fringes of the bachelors(seen in group shot). infact, in that image, the bachelors were running spirit away from the watering hole....it was sad. we spent about 3 hours with our guide, hunting the thousands of acres for a glimpse of the mustangs. we found another herd of about 75.....beautiful. by law we could get no closer than 500 feet to the animals....my images are distant, even with the zoom.
the one image of the stump is from our drive into yellowstone east entrance.
